After breakfast, you will be picked up at your hotel for a half-day tour of Cape Town.
Start the trip with a visit to the Table Mountain for unforgettable sweeping views (weather permitting). Return to the city through the Malay Quarter, past the Castle, and around Table Bay to Milnerton lighthouse.
Then visit the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. Indoor shopping, entertainment venues, ocean vistas and mountain views form a vibrant atmosphere here. After spending some time here, return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
After breakfast at the hotel, go on a full day private tour of the Cape Peninsula. Since it is a private tour, you can explore the beauty of the Peninsula at your own pace. Drive along one of South Africa’s most scenic routes, passing Hout Bay to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Enjoy a cruise to Seal Island, to view seals and sea birds at Duiker Island (weather permitting). During summer, several thousand Cape fur seals, along with the rare black cormorant, lollop leisurely among the kelp beds.
Continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. The scenery en route to Cape Point, at the South Western tip of the Reserve, is particularly beautiful in spring when wildflowers carpet the landscape. Ascend to the top by Funicular (cliff railway). Encompassing 7,750 hectares of rich and varied flora and fauna; abundant with buck, baboons and Cape Mountain zebras as well as over 250 species of birds, Cape Point is a nature enthusiast’s paradise.
Then visit an endangered African penguin colony at Boulders Beach. Wooden walkways allow visitors to view the penguins in their natural habitat here. Then drive through the historic naval base town of Simon’s Town. Return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and check out. You will be collected at your Cape Town based hotel. In the company of your driver/guide enjoy a Private 4 Day Garden Route Tour. Depart Cape Town and transfer down the Garden Route to the coastal town of Oudtshoorn (5-6 hours by road).
Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of the world. Nowhere else are ostriches found in such great number and nowhere else do they produce feathers of such fine quality – but the world’s biggest bird is just one attraction in an area of enormous contrast. The small, crime-free town, built around a wide green belt, is the commercial centre of the Klein Karoo – a rolling plain that is surrounded by towering mountains. Thus, all roads into the district follow stunningly beautiful mountain passes and all present the traveller with an interesting, scenic drive from the Garden Route, Cape Town or the hinterland.
After having breakfast at the hotel and checking out, go on a guided tour of Cango Caves. The caves are a series of dripstone caverns that open into many large halls of towering stalagmite formations, some of which are the biggest stalagmite formations in the world set in Precambrian (a time about 4500 million years ago) limestone.
Then visit Cango Wildlife Ranch. See giant flying foxes, abundant birdlife, crocodiles, white lions, African leopards, white and snow tigers, cheetahs, King cobras, and many more species. Move on to Safari Ostrich Farm.
Then drive to Knysna on the coast. Explore the quaint town of Knysna, known for its art & craft shops. The town is built on the banks of the Knysna Lagoon, a National Lake Area that falls under the protection of South African National Parks. The Lagoon is home to more than 200 species of fish – including the rare Knysna seahorse – and is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. Embark on a ferry to explore the Knysna Lagoon to see the famous Knysna Heads. (weather permitting).
