This morning, be picked up by your guide. Here you can explore the iconic Golden Circle, a popular route containing some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland: The Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and the powerful Gullfoss waterfall. Later, visit the geothermally-heated greenhouse at the Friðheimar tomato farm; and if you fancy, you can even try out their tomato flavoured ice-cream.
Later in the evening, head out on an excursion to search for the Northern Lights*. Overnight in Selfoss area.
Start your day with a visit to the Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Did you know that during summer months, you can even walk behind the magnificent falls? Then further along at the Volcano Visitor Centre at the Þorvaldseyri farm, look through the exhibit about the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption.
Later, visit the iconic Skógafoss waterfall and the nearby Skógar folk museum displaying interesting artefacts from Iceland’s old farming and fishing days. The last stop for the day is near the village of Vík í Mýrdal; home to a black volcanic beach. Here you can witness the spectacular rock arch and steep cliffs of Dyrhólaey along with the Reynisdrangar basalt columns.
In the evening, head out on another Northern Lights excursion. Overnight in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area.
Today’s drive takes you to some of Iceland’s postcard perfect attractions. Start off with a visit to the stunning Skaftafell area of Vatnajökull National Park. Vatnajökull is Iceland’s largest glacier. Here you have the option to go on a guided glacier hike and experience walking on ice (Cost not included).
Post lunch, continue to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, well-known for its floating icebergs. From here, head towards the seaside village of Höfn. Overnight in the Höfn area.
Today, head towards East Iceland, where you can experience a lesser-explored part of the island. This includes stunning scenery dotted with tranquil fishing villages, narrow fjords, rugged tundra and sweeping landscapes. Stop en route at the small villages of Stöðvarfjörður and Fáskrúðsfjörður, the latter known for its French heritage before reaching the final destination of the day. Overnight in Egilsstaðir.
The raw power of Icelandic nature can be witnessed in North Iceland. The roaring Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall is one such example. Here, you can stand right next to the thundering water; an experience you won’t soon forget!
Later, visit the Lake Mývatn area, including the Námaskarð pass and the Skútustaðagígar —which have a surreal moon-like landscape. Up next, you can relax in the warm geothermal pools and saunas at the Mývatn Nature Baths, and view mountains and lava fields (Cost not included). From here, proceed to the town of Akureyri. Overnight in Akureyri.
The morning is at leisure, you can explore Akureyri on your own. Akureyri offers a variety of cosy cafés, small shops and the historical town centre is one of the many interesting places to take a walk.Don’t miss the streets of Hafnarstræti and Aðalstræti, where you can see old houses and perhaps visit the Nonni Museum.
